In the Beginning, there was Music

Long before I came along, it was already in motion.

Hello.

Welcome to my site. Don't worry if this is your first time here - this is my first time writing a blog. About anything. S0, we'll get through this together.

I want to start with beginnings. Seems reasonable, right? In life there is a beginning and an end. In music, beginnings and endings. Rambling paragraphs... you guessed it, beginnings and endings.

Anyhow - back to the ___ (do I need to say it?).

My beginning didn't begin with me. I am blessed to come from a lineage of marvelous musicians. A bloodline born on a tiny island in the Pacific where music emanated from the sounds of the ocean, the trees, the wind, the sands, the fire, and the beautiful people. It was all around and pounded out an ancient tempo and beckoned a call and response that now dwells in my soul as a kind of instinct. So when I emerged into this crazy world, my ancestors had already laid the groundwork for me - all I had to was listen - and respond - to the call of my blood, the sound of the wind, the emotions and experiences of my friends, family and strangers - instinctively, I could feel the music everywhere.

Ah - the fire dancers of Samoa. *love*

And it's to that beginning I hope to achieve my end.

By listening - and responding - to the sound of the precious family I have built, the call of the Spirit in my heart, the voices of my friends and the sharing of their hopes, hurts and dreams, and the world as it asks for more than my observation, but my participation in her future.

Not only do I want to keep nurturing this in myself, but it is my dearest hope to help others in their own beginnings and endings. To explore and, potentially, unlock all the things they hear and feel through the power of music. And there is no limit, whether through engineering, composing, performing, learning, partaking - the possibilities are infinite and within our grasp!

And here, we begin together. Let's keep going and see how this ends.

Thank you for visiting. - J.Abdo
